The MathEx Challenge is an annual multiple-choice exam for students in 1st through 8th grade. Each test is designed for two consecutive grades, for example, the Level 1 test is designed for students in first or second grade, the Level 2 test is designed for students in third or fourth grade, etc. High performing students in each of these tests will receive recognition and prizes. The purpose of these tests is to expose students to more rigorous mathematics than they would be exposed to in school.
The MathEx Challenge
- is sixty minutes long
- has twenty questions for students in grades 1-4 or levels 1-2
- has twenty-five questions for students in grades 5-8 or levels 3-4
- only permits the use of standard pencils (wooden or mechanical), erasers, and paper. No calculators or any other electronics allowed
- does not contain negative scoring
